Nawaz Sharif to inaugurate Lahore-Karachi motorway on Saturday

Home - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will perform the ground breaking ceremony of Lahore-Islamabad motorway in a special ceremony in Sheikhupura on Saturday.

According to a statement the inaugural ceremony will be held in Qila Ghaus area near Sharakpur in Sheikhupura.

Punjab Governor Muhammad Rafiq Rajwana, Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and other top federal and provincial dignitaries will also accompany the premier on the occasion.

Prime Minister was scheduled to inaugurate the project on December 5 however his trip to Paris to attend UN Climate Change summit caused delay in inauguration.

The Lahore-Karachi motorway is one of the six mega projects that are part of Chine-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).

Lahore welcomes Hindu pilgrims

Home  - Hindus pilgrims arrived in two groups. The first group of Yatrees would attend the 307th birthday celebrations of Sawami Shadram and would perform religious ceremonies at the Shadanidarbar Hayat Pitafi, tehsil Mirpur Mathelo.

The other group of Yatrees would leave for Gurdawara Dera Sahib to attend the religious ceremonies of Shri Katas Raj Temple located in district Chakwal.

On the occasion, Jatha Party leader Shiv Partab Bajaj, while talking to media, said that Hindus have a number of religious places in Pakistan and his connection with the is very sacred. He thanked the Pakistani governments for the arrangements made for the Hindu pilgrims and said that his mission was to promote peace, love and brotherhood between Pakistan and India.

Abida Parveen to perform in Lahore

The-three day Mystic Music Sufi Festival 2015 will begin from December 11 at the Alhamra Cultural Complex, Gaddafi Stadium, Daily Times learnt on Wednesday.

The music festival – organised by the Rafi Peer Theatre Workshop - would feature versatile musicians and dancers from across Pakistan. Since its inauguration in 2000, the festival has showcased participants from over 22 Muslim countries.

According to the organisers, the Mystic Music Sufi Festival 2015 would bring together a diverse group of Sufi singers from all over Pakistan to showcase Sufi poetry and music that has been passed down through generations for more than a thousand years.

Actress Nandita Das, who was in Lahore for a two-day festival, found the experience inspirational.
The actress, who has earlier worked in Pakistani film “Ramchand Pakistani”, was here for two-day Khayaal Festival – an endeavour to promote art, literature, discussion and debate in Pakistan.

“Thank you @KhayaalFestival for having me here in Lahore. You push the boundaries of culture to bring about change. Felt inspired,” Nandita tweeted.

When IANS asked her about the fest earlier, she said: “It is bringing together writers, thinkers, filmmakers, artists, actors and musicians to discuss and debate various issues. I am in two sessions and one of them will be a conversation with the Pakistan director/actor of the film on Manto.”
Nandita is working on a script to trace the life of Pakistani short story writer Sadat Hassan Manto.

'Song of Lahore' Co-Directer Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy on Pakistan's Rich Music Scene and Culture

Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, the Oscar-winning co-director of 2012's "Saving Face," once again finds inspiration in her birth country, Pakistan, in "Song of Lahore." This time around, Obaid-Chinoy sets her eyes on the local music scene, specifically the story of Sachal Studios, a collective of rebellious musicians who became unlikely viral sensations.

Obaid-Chinoy talked with Women and Hollywood about her grandfather's influence on the film, her desire to show moviegoers a different side of Pakistan and how women are encouraged to compromise from the time they're born.

Reham Khan Changes Hotel In Lahore To Avoid Imran Khan of PTI

Imran Khan was in Lahore to address leadership conference while Reham was also in the city LAHORE (Local TV) – Reham Khan changed her hotel on Thursday due to the fear of facing ex husband Imran Khan. Imran Khan was in Lahore to address the Leadership Conference while Reham was also in the city on some personal engagements, reported Local TV. According to the details, Reham Khan had booking in a five star hotel on Mall road but when she got to know that Imran Khan is also in the same hotel, she cancelled her booking and changed her hotel. Imran was scheduled to go back after addressing the Leadership Conference but he decided to stay in the hotel for a while and his decision complicated the situation for his ex wife. In her first interview with a British newspaper since the divorce, Reham said that she will go back to Pakistan and restart her life there. She said that she will continue to work.

Is Lahore Airport Ready For Landing In Dense Fog?

Two international flights on Wednesday have been deviated to other stations after up-to-date landing system at the Allama Iqbal International Airport failed to assist in dense fog.

A Qatar Airlines flight, 628 from Doha was directed to Karachi while a private airlines jet, 413 was instructed to land in Islamabad.

Both the flights were Lahore-bound however, the international airport, despite being equipped with modern landing technology could not help amid fog that has engulfed several parts of the province today.

Sight-limit at the runway was reported at least 300 metres which was optimum for the landing system to function in fog-related situations.
